As part of the 3D Printing Architecture post-master at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, at Valldaura Labs, this habitat prototype was printed in raw earth mixed with straw.

A return to the earth, with other tools.

Printed clay is not futurism. It is a return to the earth, with other tools. Where industrial construction has separated buildings from the ground they occupy, 3D printing makes it possible to print the house with the earth of the site itself — a radical reduction in logistical footprint, a return to raw matter, the chance to adapt each construction to its climate.

Technology does not invent the language: it extends it.

This prototype is the bedrock of Atelier Cantera's research dimension. It validates technically and constructively what future projects will refine — adaptation to different climates and geologies, integration with local building practices.
